I am very pleased in the acquisition of Obe (pronounced Oh-Bee). Greg Yutzey of Dubois, PA bred and raised him during his 1st year. Greg realized the potential in Obe, but knew due to his work load he could not offer Obe the needed attention to develop him to his full potential. Greg offered an interest in him to me and I jumped at the chance. My biggest thanks goes out to Greg for giving me an opportunity to help develop Obe.

Obe, by the way stand's for One Brown Ear, his only solid marking when whelped. Also, JAR is the first letter in the names of Greg's three children. He reminds me very much of his sire; level-headed, easy to train, runs hard with great ground speed and aggressive casts, yet easy handling. He has the same head and stocky build. Greg hunted Obe last fall in Pennsylvania and Maine for grouse, woodcook and pheasant.

Obe finished a strong derby season by winning the Empire State Derby classic. He also proved this spring that he is more than capable of competing at the shooting dog level with his shooting dog placement in New Hampshire and a quality showing at the Venango Grouse trial, in what turned out to be a controversial decision. One of the judges described Obe's grouse find as "The find of the stake!". Obe went out on the limb to dig up that grouse and as Dave Hughes approached, the grouse blew out in front of him, his backing bracement charged past Obe in pursuit of that bird, yet Obe maintained his composure and style through it all without moving a muscle, showing an amazing maturity for a dog so young. He did not gain a placement in that trial, but as one of the judges said, "That dog will win championships." Obe also has wins while being handled by 3 different people (Dave Hughes, Greg Yutzey and myself). He wants to please no matter who he is with and loves attention.

I am offering Obe at stud on a limited basis, I believe he will produce good quality dogs like his sire did and would very much like to see him bred to some quality bitches.
